The Timelessness of Modernity
Abstract
The current situation of postclassic culture, plowed through by globalization processes, builds a completely unique and different model and time horizon from the classical one. In place of the Primacy of the Future, which actually served as the base for the unfolding of the horizon of the Past and Present, modernity is centered on the Present. This fixation builds only a small neighborhood of the Present as a time horizon, building, based on its small neighborhood, the Future and the Past only in a simulation mode. This alignment of time is largely “sponsored” by the modern media environment of the Internet, in which there is neither a horizon of the Future nor a horizon of the Past, but everything is in an instant and constantly changing State.
