The Significance of Classical Chinese Aesthetics for Modern Education
Abstract
Modern education places too much emphasis on practicality and quick results. This forces people to focus exclusively on grades and the speed of skill acquisition, which leads to a narrowing of students’ inner worlds. Classical Chinese aesthetics is often viewed merely as a set of painting and calligraphy techniques. However, it is actually ancient wisdom that can be very useful for solving the problems of modern education. It not only teaches people to appreciate beauty, but also touches on fundamental questions: what kind of people should we raise? And what methods should we use to raise them? Therefore, in an era of fragmented information, it can help us raise more harmonious and well-rounded individuals.
