Intercultural Communication

E. A. Serova

Abstract

The modern world is characterized by continuous cultural change, the key factor being the development of communication technologies. These technologies are transforming the ways in which information is exchanged, profoundly impacting values, social structures, and cultural understanding. In the context of globalization, the study of intercultural communication has become particularly relevant. This article analyzes the main theoretical approaches to the study of intercultural communication. Particular attention is given to Ya Kim’s adaptation theory, which views adaptation as a dynamic process of “stress-adaptation-growth.” The importance of understanding adaptation mechanisms for building a harmonious society and successful integration in intercultural interactions is emphasized.
