REVOLUTIONARY-CONSERVATIVE CHARACTER AND IDEA-PATRIOTIC NATURE OF DOMESTIC CULTURE IN LECTURES BY M. A. LIFSHITZ “ON RUSSIAN CULTURE AND ITS WORLD SIGNIFICANCE”

Abstract

From the point of view of revolutionary conservatism and ideological patriotism, the author of the article analyzes the content of the lectures of M. A. Lifshitz ―On Russian Culture and Its World Significance‖. The first part of the article is devoted to the presentation of the theoretical principles put forward by Lifshitz, revealing the historical reasons for the world significance of domestic culture. Being in some contradictory unity, the features of Russian culture make up its feature necessary for the further development of mankind. It is based on the archaic state life of our people, that is, the patriarchal peasant world, in need of centralized power, which brings Russia to the East. It was on this backward and conservative basis, Lifshitz argues, that a very fruitful unity of movement from below and action from above developed, which provided our spiritual tradition with its uncompromising revolutionary spirit – the ability to radically solve issues confused by an underdeveloped Western civilization. The second part of the article reveals the internal connection of these provisions of Lifshitz with the underlying ideas of history and patriotism comprehended by representatives of classical German philosophy
