From object to event: digital transformation of art and the concept of ‘digital readymade

E. V. Boruta, B. G. Sokolov

Abstract

This article examines the digital transformation of art, exploring the transition from object-based art to dynamic digital events. Drawing on philosophical insights from Walter Benjamin to Boris Groys, it investigates how the internet has reshaped the creation and presentation of art, turning the creative process into a form of artistic expression itself. The concept of the «digital readymade» is introduced, illustrating how the internet facilitates global dissemination of artistic identity and documentation of creative endeavors. Through philosophical analysis, the article discusses implications for authorship, subjectivity, and the viewer's role in the digital era.
