Artistic Culture as a Sphere of Representation and a Tool for Transmitting Values: for Example of the Works of Chinese Director Wang Chaoge

Abstract


In the 21st century, along with the economic and social development, people have started to pursue spiritual level of enjoyment, a new way of performance has emerged in China — live performance. As a pillar of Chinese live performance, female director Wang Chaoge has always insisted on pushing the boundaries of innovation. In 2004, she created “Impression — Liu Sanjie” as the first live performance model in China, and when the “Impression” series became popular, in 2013, Wang created an indoor situational theater model to bring the audience back to the indoor space, and at the same time created a participative viewing mode, which brought domestic live performance into the “immersive era”. But Wang Chaoge is not content with this, her creativity never stops, in 2019, “Only — Theater Fantasy City” series was launched, which breaks the limitation of theater performances in space, forming a cultural theme park. Wang Zhaogo's artistic practices and concepts have not only enriched the field of culture and art in China, but also spread the unique charm of Chinese culture on a global scale.
