The Influence of Suprematism on the XXI Century Fashion

Abstract

Suprematism, one of the key art trends of the twentieth century, has been a vibrant Russian brand for the last hundred years. His abstract shapes and vibrant colors continue to inspire and influence the development of the textile industry, reflecting the power and importance of this artistic movement in the world of fashion and design. This article examines the impact of suprematism on fashion and the textile industry. It turns out how and where this art direction originated. The first expositions of textiles with ornaments consisting of simple geometric shapes are being analyzed. In the article, the author analyzes the archives of the Iskra magazine. Special attention is paid to the drawings for fabric created by K.S. Malevich, as well as his students I. Chashnik and N. Suetin. The information collected is useful for artists, fashion designers and designers. The paper provides a comparative analysis of early 20th century art and modern fashion. Nowadays, artists often turn to the avant-garde in their works, so the analysis of the influence of suprematism on modernity is more relevant than ever. It is necessary to find out how the new pictorial realism has changed fashion, its influence on the print for different materials. The work is devoted to the analysis of the creativity of some fashion designers of the XXI century. In order to trace the influence of suprematism on fashion at the beginning of the third millennium, the work analyzed collections created by modern fashion designers over the past ten years. The first part of the article tells about the history of the trend — this is necessary for a better understanding of the phenomenon of suprematism and to identify parallels between the authors of the past and the present. The purpose of this study is to determine how suprematism has influenced fashion and what vector of aesthetic development it has passed on to new generations of designers. To achieve this goal, the author must solve two research tasks: to identify the stylistic features of suprematism, as well as to analyze which means and methods that form a visual representation of an object from the work of artists of the twentieth century passed into the work of fashion designers of the XXI century. The study establishes parallels between suprematism and modern fashion, revealing the influence of this trend on fashion design. In addition, the article analyzes the corporate style of St. Petersburg Mining University, where elements of suprematism can be found in the design of uniforms and official symbols.
