Art culture in the conditions of development of artificial intelligence: music and visual art (on the example of China)

Сziahao Yan

Abstract

The article explores the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on artistic culture, using examples from music d visual arts in China. The author analyzes how AI transforms traditional creative forms and becomes a new tool for both creation and critique. In the music field, the transition from subcultural movements to algorithmic music generation is examined in detail, including projects like DADABOTS and the Algorave movement, illustrating the interplay between humans and machines. Visual art is described through the lens of neural networks and post-digital aesthetics, where generative adversarial networks create new artistic expressions and glitch art critiques digital perfection. Significant attention is given to algorithmic activism, including projects such as CV Dazzle and Decolonising-AI, aimed at countering algorithmic dominance and preserving cultural diversity. The Chinese context is highlighted, showing how digital art integrates traditional motifs with modern augmented reality and generative art technologies. The author concludes that AI in artistic culture represents both a challenge and an opportunity, demanding a rethinking of creativity, authorship, and identity concepts in the digital age.
