Spatial images in the works of Tomsk science fiction authors of the late XX–early XXI centuries

Abstract

The article considers the phenomenon of Tomsk fiction from the seventies of the twentieth century to the first decade of the twenty-first century. The study of the spatial content of text allows further identification of the functions of images that shape the author’s worldview. The category of space occupies a special place in the fantastic work becoming not only an intra-textual field uniting the heroes, events and telling about them but also a connecting element with the reader. Locus as an element of the spatial system is studied in connection with the regional nature of the works considered for further comparison with their fantastic aspect. The study is based on four narratives of Tomsk authors of science fiction A.P. Kazantsev, V.D. Koloupaev, G.M. Prashkevich and D.S. Fedotov including highlighting the specific context in which these works were formed. The authors presented are the most readable among the audience of Tomsk science fiction. The study of text space as a main element of the textual model also allows to consider the influence of the regional component containing social, historical and cultural content on the author’s worldview. In the further revealed nature of artistic space allows to highlight a special attitude to the ethical side of scientific progress characteristic of Tomsk authors of science fiction.
