THE MYTH OF SHAKESPEARIAN TRADITION AND MODERN SPECTATOR: RESULTS OF ANNIVERSARY YEAR

Abstract


In the article the historic-cultural scope of Shakespearian anniversary is grasped and mini-research, related to the actualization of Shakespearian tradition’s phenomenon at the present boundary of centuries, is offered. The reason for the analytics of contemporary theatrical process was the festival events, dedicated to the 450-th anniversary of the Shakespeare’s birth, and the other important meetings for the author with the name of genius poet. It is about the tour of the Globe Theatre of Shakespeare with the play «Midsummer Night’s Dream», directed by Dominic Dromgoole, on the stage of Alexandrinsky theatre, the shows of film versions of Shakespearean works in the program of «The Theater HD Live» season of «Avrora» cinema and acquaintance with the work of contemporary English theater companies of «National Theatre Live», «Royal Shakespeare Company» and «Shakespeare’s Globe». Moreover, it is about «Hamlet» — the play directed by Valery Fokin and new poetic translations of Shakespearean «Hamlet». It is raised the whole range as interesting as complicated research problems, included an attempt to look at Shakespeare from our time and from the depths of the modern human’s cultural consciousness of the turn of centuries; to think about why the Shakespearean theatre is an important tradition for the history of culture and at the same time is existentially significant «myth» for every new age; to estimate conditions, at which the tragedy and myth work under the name of «Shakespeare» in an alien heroics of modernity; to comprehend the reasons why the «Hamlet», the one of the most mysterious plays in the international repertoire, returns to the scenic practice of the present decade; to understand, what tasks are solved by the new translations of Shakespearian plays
