SPONTANEOUS DESIGN: STRATEGY ОF SCIENTIFIC DESCRIPTION

Abstract

The set of necessary things collected by V. Arkhipov combines the features of scientific research and art project. It provides an opportunity to examine the phenomenon of spontaneous design, self-sufficient production of household items that can not be bought directly. Spontaneous design can be discussed as a result of a specific configuration of production and consumption practices, which were peculiar to the Soviet age and the first post-Soviet years. The definition of a spontaneous design is given, its basic forms and its causes are considered. An approach to the study of spontaneous design by the cultural studies is proposed. Тhe importance of its study for the social sciences is shown.
