SYMBOLISATION OF THE PAST: TOTAL VINTAGE

Abstract

The article discusses the modern phenomenon of the vintage as one example of the operation of current models of symbolization of time. We will not find out in vintage’s thing antiquity or past. Vintage item shows only the «shape» of the past, the simulation of past. According to the author the phenomenon of vintage is possible only in the current cultural situation when the past isn’t real, but simulated past, a beautiful and meaningless fake. Past time is nowdays a something that is completely arbitrary, that you can convert and remodel: a reservoir of alibi of the modern processes.
