ART AND NOTHINGNESS

А. Л. Казин

Abstract

The present article looks at the evolution of the key ideas and concepts of European artistic culture in comparison with the Russian Orthodox tradition. The art of Europe has followed a path from Classicism through Modernism to Postmodernism; Russian culture, on the other hand, preserved its links with religion over the course of the 20th century and continues to share values with it to this day. Such are the main lines of civilizational interaction between the two.
