ARCHETYPE OF CITY (WESTERN AND EASTERN MODEL)

Е. М. Щепановская

Abstract

The Archetype of the City represents the organization of the Universe, manifesting itself through two different model. This is the city as a temple (embedding analogy of Earth and Heaven and focusing spiritual energy) and a city-fortress (enclosed within itself, divided from Nature and suppresses it). The eastern model still keeps the image of city-temple, universal for ancient people, but it is losing the western model, while developing the archetype of city-fortress. The article shows the periodical return to the archetype of city-temple, which is actual nowadays.
