Abstract


Author exposes three types of traditionalism of Russian Buddhism and three types of innovation intrinsic of them. In the article, the cultural foundations of the concepts tradition and novation are considered, as well as their philosophical relativity. It is offered to replace the problem of traditions’ encountering novations in Buddhism of this country with logical analysis. The general conclusion of the article: traditions and novations are a universal binary development code of any culture. Only due to the activity of keeping the found, the ancient Buddhist traditions have survived. It is due to the bravery of those who brought themselves to novations that development of Buddhism became possible all over the world, including in the West and Russia.
