REPRESENTATION OF TIME IN MODER ARCHITECTURE: FROM MATTER TO TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

In this article the authors reflect the problem of time in architecture in ХХ-ХХI centuries. On the basis of such category as time the modern architecture is described through comparative analysis of classical and non-classical buildings; the authors of the article draw a parallel between tendencies in building constructions and in culture generally; the role of human factor is revealed in general symbolic process. Central characteristics of temporality are visible in specific material such as glass and its power of time elimination in high-speed processes of  everyday life. Technological development is the second factor which influences the image of temporality in architecture. Designing and building processes transform our view of time in architecture. For such technologies we can see the short-time duration of building.
